The undead have prepared their last attack on the arcane observatory. Without this building, the humans will lose an important advantage against the Scourge. In a last attempt to protect the fortification, the mages have summoned eight mercenaries that'll have to cooperate in order to save the town. To close the portal you have to destroy the necropolis then destroy the the portal holder in the undead base.
