Every 1000 gold your faction gains by killing the opposing soldiers, a crystal will spawn inside your base, grab that crystal and use it to recruit new powerful units to join the ranks of your faction's army. Staying in the middle where the armies clash gives more experience, but while last-hitting enemy soldiers can delay the spawn of the next crystal, denying your own units can do the same to your enemy. If you are looking for gold, try to take on the monsters inside the frozen forest or conquer enemy markets by defeating their guardians.
